The Nkwanta Fire Service Cautions The General Public to Avoid Bush Fires To Safeguard Properties during this dry season. Mr. Francis Agbavitor (DO ii), Municipal Fire Commander for Nkwanta South in an interview with Beyond FM said , the current records on bush fire in the area is alarming hence, the need to educate the general public.

He continues that, the major people whose cause bush fires are palm wine tappers, charcoal burners, smokers, hunters and even the farmers. some of these people with their day to day activities end up destroying other people’s properties as a result of improper way of setting fire.

Mr Francis Agbavitor further touched on some of their achievements so far in the municipality. “The fire service department have trained about one hundred and twenty -five (125) vibrant young men with the help of Nkwanta south municipal assembly to help fight against bush fires in the various communities they find themselves”. He said.

Finally, he urged farmers to create farm belt around their farms for them not to loose their farm produce to bush fire because when that happens there’s going to be hunger in the area.

“Our office is always ready to offer any guidance to the general public in terms of fire prevention because our core mandate is to protect every property from being destroy by any form of fire”. Said Mr Francis Agbavitor.

He also pleaded with assembly men and women and all opinion leaders to call on them anytime they need some form of assistance from the fire service department in the municipality.
